Also in the Atlantic Archipelago lives the brilliant physicist Dr. Stern, whose calculations for splitting the atom lie concealed in the drafting room of Agincroft Architects. Both Crispin Agincroft and Will Freeling now attend the Jesuit school, the Borgia Collegium, also in the Archipelago. Both Crispin and Will work with Marion Runnel, who has been enlisted by British Navel Intelligence. They attempt to keep the Stern calculationsfrom falling in to Nazi hands.
