Marques shares how faith, humility, and accountability enabled him to overcome low self-esteem, inferiority complex, foolish pride, selfishness, anger, depression, and fear as he navigated the peaks and valleys of being a collegiate athlete, the darkness of transitioning into corporate America, and finding/owning his lane as a successful Healthcare professional, Public Speaker, and Author. Marques reveals how embracing lies in the form of stereotypes, prejudice, bias, fear, self-imposed limits, and past hurt prevented him from walking in his truth. He then details how the fatigue and frustration of living in an aimless cycle of nothingness, something we all experience when we're too fearful to believe in ourselves outside our comfort zone, drove him to seek to be fulfilled by intentionally going against the norms he previously conformed to. A blossoming relationship with God brought about a humility that triggered Marques to revisit his past and through a renewed perspective he discovered God's will where he saw failure, influence where he saw disappointment, and purpose where he only felt pain.Readers learn this process of unlearning is vital because your life is a message and you are responsible to be the message that encourages others to refuse to allow circumstances to dictate life to them.
