Now available as a book and CD edition. This easy and fun approach to learning the Piano has a modern look with clear and straight-forward layouts plus amusing new characters who help emphasise the information being taught. As new notes are introduced, the pupil is given the opportunity to play examples in which only one hand is required. Each book of the course contains its own writing exercises, sightreading drills, review work and later, technical studies. Accompaniments for teacher or parent are supplied with most of the examples. The accompanying CD is a wonderful tool for enhancing this method with highly acclaimed midi-orchestrated backing tracks. Practice becomes so much fun! Each track is split to enable the pupil to hear both Piano part and accompaniment if the balance is centred, the accompaniment without Piano if the balance is to the left, and the Piano part alone if the balance is all the way to the right. There are also two tempos for each song, allowing slower practice while it's needed - an ideal accompaniment for learning!

Pianista y compositor estadounidense John Thompson (1889-1963) nació en Pensilvania. A temprana edad actuó como concertista de piano en las principales ciudades de América y Europa, donde su brillante interpretación recibió muchos elogios. Tras concluir su carrera concertista, dirigió departamentos de música en conservatorios de Filadelfia, Indianápolis y Kansas City. Durante estos mandatos desarrolló ciertas ideas definidas y originales sobre la enseñanza, y en poco tiempo se hizo famoso por sus sinceros esfuerzos por interesar a los jóvenes estudiantes en el pianismo. Su enseñanza a tocar con los dedos meñiques y su curso moderno para piano siguen siendo algunos de los métodos más vendidos en el mundo en la actualidad.
