₡ 7.942The second installment of the "Secler SpaceOdyssey" continues the absurdist and gritty journey of the SSS Space-Wheelbarrow and its eccentric crew. Following the chaotic, liquor-fueled celebrations and the symbolic founding of the "Second Szekler Republic" in the previous volume, the crew faces the ultimate challenge: the sobering reality of the journey home.
Captain Bendegúz Kovács struggles to find meaning in their mission while navigating the physical and mental hangovers of his crew. The narrative shifts from pure satire into a more profound, existential territory as the ship nears Earth. The discovery of a hidden message from the Captain's father-a former space traveler himself-reveals a heartbreaking truth: the "great mission" was merely a PR stunt, and the void of space offers no external salvation. The message emphasizes that the only thing truly worth "bringing home" is one's authentic self, stripped of the expectations of others.
The climax of the book is a tense and tragic confrontation. As the ship approaches a war-torn Earth, the simple-minded but sensitive Frédi experiences a mental breakdown. Unable to reconcile the humanity he discovered in the silence of space with the renewed violence he sees on the planet below, he attempts to sabotage the ship or end the cycle of destruction. In a harrowing moment of duty and desperation, Captain Kovács is forced to make a lethal decision to protect the rest of the crew and the hope of their return.
The sequel masterfully balances the trademark "Szekler" humor-rough, vulgar, and incredibly honest-with a dark, cinematic tension. It explores the heavy price of homecoming and the realization that while space is an empty void, the most dangerous and complex territory remains the human heart. It is a powerful conclusion (or continuation) that leaves the reader questioning whether humanity is ever truly ready to return to where it started.
