Rare edition with unique illustrations and elegant classic cream paper. Robert Chambers was an American artist and writer. He studied at the Art Student's League along with Charles Dana Gibson, and sold illustrations to Life, Truth, and Vogue magazines. He then turned to writing, producing his first novel, In the Quarter, while living in Munich. His best known work is The King in Yellow, which influenced several other writers. He also wrote romantic fiction, and toward the end of his career concentrated on historical fiction. The Firing Line is a romance novel set in New York, the Adirondacks, and Palm Beach. It was adapted as a stage play and became a silent film in 1919. Sheila Malcourt has a loveless marriage with her husband Louis, but is unwilling to divorce him. Even though she loves another, she fears hurting her foster parents. She suppresses her feelings for Garry Hamil and tries to maintain her marriage ...until a tragedy occurs, she finds herself faced with a new dilemma. Includes vintage illustration!

Escritor estadounidense conocido por sus relatos de terror y misterio. Publicó El Rey Amarillo (1895), una colección de cuentos que influyó en la literatura fantástica y de horror, con elementos que posteriormente inspiraron a escritores como H.P. Lovecraft. Aunque inicialmente se destacó en la ficción macabra y sobrenatural, su carrera tomó un giro hacia la novela romántica e histórica, con títulos como The Tracer of Lost Persons (1906) y The Dark Star (1917).

Su obra combina el terror cósmico con el decadentismo literario de finales del siglo XIX. The King in Yellow sigue siendo su libro más reconocido, particularmente por su impacto en la mitología del horror. A pesar de haber escrito numerosas novelas, su legado se centra en la influencia que tuvo en el género del terror.
