The story of Rupert who discovers that he has Alzheimer, s. He and his wife Elena set out to research the illness and find a cure. As this takes place Rupert's business collapses and he faces financial ruin and so his struggle is not only living with Alzheimer's, but also trying to survive. The story if often very funny and full of information which will be of some value to not only Alzheimer's patients, but also their caregivers and others seeking to know more about the reality of living with the disease. Their research becomes immense and eventually even takes Rupert from his home in South Africa to the blistering heat of the Australian outback.Here he meets a billionaire with a clinic and a new method of dealing with the illness in a non invasive way. He becomes the very first patient. Rupert not only slows his illness down to the minimum symptoms, but also discovers much inner happiness and at the same time his fortunes improve. He concludes that Al Zheimer, 'The Gangster Of The Mind' has actually helped him to discover himself and the joy of living
