Sahira's Story is a tale of two friends, Sahira and Christie, who live next door to each other and become as close as sisters. Both are only children. Christie is part of a single-parent family, with her dad as her only parent. Sahira is the child of immigrants.  The differences between the two seem unimportant at first, but as the girls reach their late teens, there are stark reminders of the cultural differences between the two families. Sahira's father expects - and demands - instant obedience., Christie's father is a more typical, North American laid-back dad.  Christie is shocked when Sahira announces that her father has arranged a marriage for her, to a man she has never met, a situation Christie denounces as impossible and plots to help Sahira escape her father's domination. Can her plan succeed? The reader will have to wait until the last page to find out.
