This is an important bibliography of Hamilton's writings and the early literature about his life and work. Organized chronologically, it is divided into two parts. The first part records Hamilton's personal letters, essays, political pamphlets, and books written about him. A notable feature of this part is an exhaustive list of editions of The Federalist, with collations and physical descriptions. The second part records Hamilton's official Treasury reports, financial circulars, and economic policies that laid the groundwork for the American financial system. Originally published in 1886, in an edition of only 500 copies, this bibliography remains a valuable Hamilton reference. During his short lifetime Ford [1865-1902] was a highly regarded historian, historical novelist, prolific bibliographer of Americana and editor of a definitive multi-volume collection of Thomas Jefferson's papers, which featured the Autobiography of Thomas Jefferson, 1743-1790. vi, [80] pp. (irregular pagination)
