The last Galaxy ship was on the runway ready to take flashpoint, when Erica shouted, “Is everyone on board?” Hilde yelled back, “No!” She had been right behind Dawn, who had suddenly doubled back to pick up the stuffed toy that she had accidentally dropped. Then the unexpected happened. Alex was only ten feet from his daughter when a Hunter jumped in front of him and grabbed his arm. Alex was facing the Hunter, and, forced to look deep into the Hunter’s eyes he was frozen in terror. Suddenly the Hunter dropped to the ground, dead, his skull split wide open. Hilde was standing behind the Hunter’s body, holding a bat, and shouted to Alex to run, to get on the ship. She would look after Dawn. Tossing the murder weapon to the ground, Hilde picked her up, and held her tightly against her chest as she ran for the Galaxy ship. Hilde yelled, “Faster, they’re almost here.” Just in time they made it inside as the bay doors closed. Flashpoint. Dawn was unable to sleep, something wasn’t right. She looked deep into the galaxy and mentally asked, Why are you reading my mind? Stop now! At the edge of the galaxy the Directorate council looked at each other and wondered, “How can she do that, she’s only three years old?” At the far end of the council table, a Directorate nicknamed Chewee said, “If it looks like a duck, acts like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck.” Another Directorate asked, “What is Chewee saying?” The head of the council replied, “Just ignore him, he’s rambling on as usual, something about ducks.” On Earth, it would be months before the remains of the Hunter were found. Admiral Campbell was called in to investigate. The gruesome remains were sent to a high-level facility for analysis. The Admiral would later learn that the remains were not of Earthly origin. BUT all of that is in the future.
