English summary: The role of women in the Churches represents an important problem field for Christianity from the very beginning. On the one side was the witness of the liberating practice of Jesus, on the other hand the need was recognised for the legitimacy of a Christian image of women in ancient society. In order to resolve the resulting tensions, the authors have also made particular reference to the Bible. This led to a qualitatively and quantitatively rich literary and theological literature up until the 7th Century - not onliy in Greek and Latin, but also by authors from Syria. German description: Die Rolle von Frauen in den Kirchen stellte fur die Christenheit von Anfang an ein wichtiges Problemfeld dar. Auf der einen Seite stand das Zeugnis der befreienden Praxis Jesu, auf der anderen Seite erkannte man die Notwendigkeit der Legitimation eines christlichen Frauenbildes in der antiken Gesellschaft. Um die daraus entstehenden Spannungen zu losen, zogen die Autoren insbesondere auch die Bibel zu Rate. Dies fuhrte bis ins 7. Jahrhundert hinein zu einem sowohl qualitativ als auch quantitativ sehr reichen literarischen und theologischen Schrifttum - nicht nur von griechischen und lateinischen, sondern auch von Autoren aus dem syrischen Raum.
