Tras estudiar Finanzas con honores en la Universidad de Notre Dame, Sparks inició su carrera literaria con The Notebook (1996), una obra que rápidamente se convirtió en un bestseller del New York Times y marcó el comienzo de un éxito editorial sin precedentes.
