Patrick Taylor es un médico y escritor norirlandés, conocido principalmente por su exitosa serie de novelas ambientadas en Irlanda del Norte, centradas en la ficticia aldea de Ballybucklebo. Nació en Bangor, en el condado de Down, y estudió medicina en Queens University Belfast. Más tarde emigró a Canadá, donde trabajó como investigador y profesor de medicina reproductiva. Su carrera médica ha sido prolífica, con más de 170 publicaciones científicas y varios libros de texto médicos.

Taylor comenzó a escribir ficción como una forma de relajarse, y alcanzó el reconocimiento internacional con su novela "An Irish Country Doctor" (2007), la primera de una larga serie que combina humor, drama y una profunda humanidad.
