Beginning in Chicago, the stories take the reader to Missouri, Iowa, Kansas city and England. The reader will travel through the Women's Suffrage Movement, WWI, the Roaring Twenties, the Depression, and pre WWII era

Inspired by actual events, Harris shares the story of her grandmother, Iva Mae Noland, a young waitress who falls in love with a womanizing rich Englishman. Together with his wealthy parents, he ensnares her in a web of lies. When women's rights were limited, her grandmother gained national attention for her remarkable courage and for challenging the norms of her time.
