Su visión, centrada en la importancia de transformar los sistemas educativos para nutrir el talento individual y fomentar la imaginación, lo convirtió en una de las voces más influyentes de su tiempo. Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran El elemento, Encuentra tu elemento e Imaginación en la escuela, textos traducidos a múltiples idiomas que inspiraron a millones de docentes, estudiantes y profesionales alrededor del mundo. Sus conferencias, especialmente las impartidas en TED, fueron vistas por millones de personas y lo catapultaron como un referente global en el debate sobre el futuro de la enseñanza.
Robinson fue nombrado caballero por la Reina Isabel II en 2003 por sus contribuciones a las artes y la educación.
