"Jack and Jaquelyn" (J&J) is an intimate relationship memoir about a mature couple told in a story form. The narrative follows Jack and Jaquelyn during the decade of their seventies, through an initiatory near-death experience into a deepening exploration of intimacy as a path of awakening. To round out the story there are flashbacks to earlier adventures of struggle and accomplishment. The book describes the possibilities of mature intimate love, the ultimate inseparability of sexuality and spirituality, the connection between sexuality and healing, and ways to embrace the mystery of death through sexual intimacy. Other themes that thread their way through the stories include: -Leaving the old patriarchal paradigm behind to evolve a new consciousness of love in which intimate relationship is a path of awakening to the divine -Creating a mythology of relationship that supports the deepening of sexual intimacy -The empowering of the divine feminine in our culture and the magic of "woman flesh" -How love and sexuality are evolving now---tangibly -How men become truly authentic, competent lovers -How nature affects the intimacy between lovers The book is novelistic in style and perhaps best characterized as a lyrical cinematic description of the explicit erotic adventures of a couple in their golden years that sees intimacy as an inseparable part of the current evolutionary awakening. One of the book's deepest intentions is to support a growing culture in which the sharing of relationship stories becomes a primary practice for both couples and singles exploring the path of intimacy. The authors have come to believe that evolution is to be a co-created phenomenon among humans and the natural forces of life. It follows that the context for this process has to be something shared by all peoples more or less independently of their cultural, racial, religious and economic backgrounds. It would seem that intimate relationships---with nature and between peoples---are the most universal candidates to provide the fertile ground for such an evolutionary awakening. Touching the divine in this way is an experience that eventually can be shared in groups that develop appropriate practices (that is already happening) and eventually expand to the interactions among groups and communities (just beginning to happen). In this way a new vision of intimacy can be seeded in the mainstream culture.
