Cantalamessa uses the words of Scripture, particularly those of Jesus, to reflect on the meaning of a God who speaks, a God who is in relationship with humanity. By encountering these words in prayer and liturgy, we are invited to allow them into our minds and hearts so that we may be bearers of the word of God in the world.Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap, taught the history of Christian origins at the Catholic University of Milan and served on the International Theological Commission. He devotes his ministry to preaching and writing, and since 1980 he has been the Preacher to the Papal Household. Raniero Cantalamessa, nacido el 22 de julio de 1934 en Colli del Tronto (Italia), es un sacerdote capuchino, teólogo y cardenal de la Iglesia Católica. Ordenado en 1958, obtuvo doctorados en Teología y Letras Clásicas. Fue profesor de Historia de los Orígenes Cristianos en la Universidad Católica de Milán y miembro de la Comisión Teológica Internacional. En 1980, fue nombrado Predicador de la Casa Pontificia, cargo que desempeñó hasta 2024 bajo los pontificados de Juan Pablo II, Benedicto XVI y Francisco.

Es autor de numerosas obras de espiritualidad y teología. Entre sus libros más destacados se encuentran La subida al Monte del Dios Vivo (2007), El poder de la cruz (1996), El misterio de la Pascua (1993), La Eucaristía: nuestra santificación (1993) y Contemplando la Trinidad (2007). Su enfoque combina la profundidad teológica con una espiritualidad accesible, influenciada por la renovación carismática católica. En 2020, el papa Francisco lo creó cardenal, dispensándolo de la ordenación episcopal a petición suya.
