Throughout it all Jo presides over her brood, counseling, comforting, and guiding her "boys." Touching, moving, and tumultuous, this is Alcott's writing at its best, with the reader heavily invested in her complex characters and their fate. Includes an extended character profile of Jo.

Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) nació en Germantown, Pensilvania, y tras pasar una temporada en Boston, murió en Concord, Massachusetts.

La energía y el espíritu independiente que ya tenía en su infancia la acompañaron a lo largo de toda su vida y la llevaron a aceptar distintos empleos para ayudar económicamente a su familia. En 1854 publicó su primer libro, Flower Fables, al que siguieron más de treinta novelas y colecciones de relatos. Pero su nombre iría siempre unido al de Mujercitas, una novela que escribió entre mayo y julio de 1868 por encargo de sus editores.
