Sanu was the dreamer-eyes always somewhere beyond the blackboard. Miki was the anchor-sharp, observant, grounded like the roots of an old banyan tree. They didn't become friends. They simply... always were.

In Class 9, under a dusty ceiling fan and the smell of chalk, they made a promise-
"No matter what, we won't drift." Miki carved it lightly into the wooden desk with a compass tip. Sanu laughed, but his heart believed it like scripture. Neither of them knew how time quietly erases even the deepest carvings.

Board exams ended like a chapter closing too fast. That final bell echoed louder than ever before. They stood at the gate. "Stay in touch," Miki said casually. "Always," Sanu replied, as if the word carried power. But life isn't impressed by promises. It listens only to change.

College arrived like a storm of unfamiliar faces. That's where Sanu met Pinki. She wasn't loud, yet she filled every silence. She laughed like she trusted the world.
