When Jerry's mother is given two years to live, he doesn't pay much attention until a picture falls out of his wallet a year later. The visits and phone calls increase and childhood memories are evoked. This concise memoir was written for his nine adult siblings with families of their own. These stand alone chapters follow the process of his mother's diminishing life. First, the driver's license was handed over, then her short term memory waned, and finally her independent living became non-existent. After raising ten children on her own, it was time for her children to help her through the greatest transition of life. There is a section of Gerald's poetry about his mother as well.
