Daphne Noble (soon to be Mrs. Daphne Gainsworth) and her beloved Mr. Gainsworth are all aflutter when their dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. Bell, visit from America with a musical that's touring London and leave behind Sir Sebastian Fitch, the rising theatrical star and playwright. How fortuitous that he's between parts, and seemingly short on inspiration, and thus free to lend a hand with the annual Christmas panto.

Soon, the village is caught up in theatrical fever-since it's for the good cause of showing up the rival town of Shrewsberry. Last year, Shrewsberry stole their pantomime, but this year, Somerset will be stunned when the village performs an original play written by the famous Fitch! With Daphne and Mr. Gainsworth's "peculiar" talents suddenly in demand, and Shrewsberry sweating for last year's sins, it might be the best Christmas the village has ever seen!
