Reseña del libro "The Ant's View Of Things: A memoir of what small things keep (en Inglés)"
What is the earliest thing you can remember? For Reenu, it is a pair of bony feet beneath a faded green saree - a view so low to the ground she wonders if she was an ant, a mouse, or simply an infant too small to see above the hem. From that first fragment, The Ant's View of Things builds a world: the housing colonies of northern India in the 1970s and 80s, a childhood spent moving from Roorkee to Ghazipur to Ghaziabad to Lucknow, a mother who threw a kitchen knife at a monkey and pressed cold cloths to her daughter's forehead at 107 degrees with equal calm. An elder brother who gave you the bad guava and the tiny piece of chocolate and, once, a whole box of them when you needed it most. This is a memoir about ordinary life lived with extraordinary attention — about the specific texture of a particular India that no longer exists in quite the same form, preserved here before it fades entirely. About guavas monitored three times a day. About a durree on the floor with a burn mark in one corner. About the shape that love leaves when it is gone. Bhaiyya is no longer here to tell his version - the one that was drier than hers, more accurate, and funnier in a way she could never quite replicate. He was the other witness to this childhood. Without him, the memory is half a record. Every gap is the shape of him. The Ant's View of Things is written toward that gap.
