Reseña del libro "The Clinicians' Revolution. The End of Listening at the Farm of the Unconscious (en Inglés)"

A philosophical fable about the end of listening.
When George Orwell wrote Animal Farm, he wanted to show how every revolution carries within itself the seed of the tyranny it promised to overthrow. William Marcos does the same with the field of mental health, in this satirical parody set at the Farm of the Unconscious.
At the Farm of the Unconscious - a multidisciplinary clinical center in a neighborhood that was once distinguished - the psychoanalysts expelled the original owner (the patient) and began to administer the space with growing bureaucratic competence and diminishing capacity for listening. Old Sigmund has been dead for a long time. His portrait hangs on the wall. His pipe sits under a glass case. The clock that stopped at the time of his last speech has never been fixed.
With a gallery of characters that echoes and subverts Orwell - Napoleon Cognitive with the DSM under his arm, Jacques expelled through the fire escape window with three books and his shoe untied, Boxer seeing twelve patients a day until the day he is dismissed by automatic email, the Sheep memorizing diagnoses with colored pens, Squealer Digital transforming every collapse into 45-second reels - The Clinicians' Revolution is a philosophical comedy that spares no one.
Not psychoanalysis. Not the universities. Not the pharmaceutical market. Not mental health journalism. Not the licensing boards. Not the therapy apps. Not, above all, the Grand DSM - the sacred scripture of a field that learned to classify human suffering with increasing precision and to listen to it with decreasing attention.
A maxim runs through the book from beginning to end, like the stopped clock:
"Psychoanalysis does not exist in manuals, does not exist in councils, does not exist in resolutions. Psychoanalysis exists only - and solely - when there is a psychoanalyst and a patient. Two human beings. A space between them. And the silence sufficient for what has never been said to finally find a way to be said. Everything else is the administration of the void that grew between the two."
For readers of Orwell, of Freud, of Lacan - and for everyone who has ever felt, seated in a waiting room, that they were about to be processed by a system that had forgotten why it existed.
