John Lithgow, nacido el 19 de octubre de 1945 en Rochester, Nueva York, es un destacado actor estadounidense con una prolífica carrera en teatro, cine y televisión. Hijo de una actriz y de un productor y director teatral, Lithgow mostró interés por la actuación desde temprana edad. En 1973, ganó su primer premio Tony por su actuación en "The Changing Room"

Además de su carrera actoral, Lithgow ha incursionado en la literatura infantil, escribiendo varios libros dirigidos a niños.
