Charlie is a child who always asks "why?" A curious child in a remarkably beautiful natural world, he lives with his family on a small coastal island rich with life-birds, fish, wolves, cougars, trees, a garden, and the watchful owl. In this idyllic world, he is full of wonder. But when his family relocates to the city, he struggles to connect with this sense of curiosity in school and church and amongst other children. As he ages, he returns to the ocean, and works on a fishing boat, which ultimately brings him back to the island he'd left so long ago.
